Vaal University of Technology
At the end of 2006, VUT appointed Professor Irene Moutlana as the Vice-Chancellor. Before joining VUT, Professor Moutlana was Deputy Vice-Chancellor : Academic of Port Elizabeth Technikon and later Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Technology at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in Port Elizabeth.
Her extensive track record in Higher Education includes lecturing and research supervision at universities from undergraduates to Doctoral levels. She is a member on a number of professional boards and has
widely published both nationally and internationally. She holds a Doctor of Education from Harvard University, USA.

Vaal University of Technology (VUT), formerly Vaal Triangle Technikon, is located on the banks of the Vaal River in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng. Established in 1966 as a Technical College, but evolved over the years into the only Technikon in the Vaal Triangle and is today one of the new Universities of Technology. VUT currently has an enrolment of 14,532 students offering programmes from undergraduates to Doctorate. Apart from the Main Campus in Vanderbijlpark, VUT has satellite campuses in Secunda, Kempton Park, Klerksdorp, Upington and Sebokeng Township.
